Privatization as a Source of Self-Financing of Conversion Processes

Abstract
Until recently the central question in conversion was: What should enterprises in the defense complex of industry do and what should they produce when there are sharp cutbacks in state allocations for the purchase of weapons and military equipment?1 The situation has now substantially changed. Even more urgent questions have come to the fore: How to survive under the conditions of the almost complete termination of military orders; where to find sources of financing for respecializing production and for expanding the production of civilian products; how to secure socioeconomic support for defense-enterprise collectives; and how to preserve their scientific-technical potential? And the answer must be sought in the face of a general slump in production and the disintegration of the economic system.
