Treatment of Nonunion of the Tibia with a Capacitively Coupled Electrical Field

Abstract
An electrical field was induced in a recalcitrant nonunion of the tibia by a symmetrical, sinusoidal signal of 5 volts peak-to-peak amplitude and 60 KHz frequency applied through surface electrodes with the power supply strapped to the thigh. After 6 months of treatment in a short leg cast, the nonunion healed.
