Abstract
A transverse electromagnetic wave propagating through a lossy dielectric is studied. We propose rational functions to describe the general behavior of the permittivity as a function of frequency. The impulse response of the system is found in closed form. The step response is found in terms of a small argument series and an asymptotic expansion. Rise times may be calculated with a nominal number of terms. Pulses may be formed as the superposition of this solution.This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
