Abstract
Beginning in 1964 mouse-food-pad inoculations were used to monitor the loss in numbers of viable Mycobacterium leprae that occurs when patients begin antileprosy therapy. To monitor short-term therapeutic trials, the mouse-foot-pad method was evidently the most efficient method available; it required the smallest number of patients. The results are compiled in a standard form of presentation to facilitate comparisons between trials and regimens. A table is provided for statistical consideration of results.
