Abstract
A specialized region of the endoplasmic reticulum--the BFA body--is defined by the site of accumulation of coatomer when nonclathrin coat protein (COP)-coated vesicle assembly is prevented by the drug brefeldin A (BFA). BFA bodies are formed by part smooth, part rough domains of endoplasmic reticulum that are cis to the classical transitional endoplasmic reticulum and to BFA-induced Golgi remnants. Keywords
