Abstract
Forward error control (FEC) coding for frequency-hopping multiple frequency shift keying (FH/MFSK) multiple-access systems is analyzed, taking into account synchronous as well as asynchronous other-user interference. For both cases capacity and cut-off-rate are investigated and exact expressions for the basic system parameters are derived. Various types of FEC codes are considered. Systems employing repetition coding (diversity) or dual-k codes are examined as well as concatenated coding schemes with various outer RS codes. For the most promising codes the required E/sub b//N/sub 0/ as a function of the number of active system users is calculated.
