Abstract
Goldrath's endometrial ablation (GEA) with the Nd:YAG laser offers an alternative to hysterectomy for metromenorrhagia. The use of the standard quartz fiber has been effective. The contact artificial sapphire tip offered theoretical advantages which were not confirmed. Precision and limited control of tissue destruction needed by gastroenterologists and urologists prolong the duration and limit the effectiveness of ablation surgery. Keywords
