Abstract
Speech in adult education. The annual convention of Western Speech Association held last fall in San Jose included a new section: “Speech in Adult Education.”; This fact is of no particular significance in itself, but as part of the rising interest in adult education it is important. After World War I, we saw the great development of interest in the liberal arts colleges. During World War II, nearly every adult found himself attending some new class again. Many educators believe this gave impetus to the developing idea that one's education is never finished. Speech training for adults is not new; however, in recognition of recent developments, we wish to print, as a series, the convention addresses on adult education.
