Abstract
Photocycloaddition of the dienone (5) leads to a major compound (6b) which is an intermediate in a new synthesis of β-cedrene (8). The structure of its crystalline derivative (12b) has been established by X-ray diffraction. In particular, the relative configuration of the 12-methyl and 11 -methylene (cedrene numbering) is the correct one. Keywords
