Abstract
A suggestion that the theory of the interacting open bosonic string be reformulated as a generalized Yang-Mills theory is further elucidated. Moreover, a serious reservation regarding the ordering of operators in the earlier ‘‘proof’’ of equivalence between the new and standard formulations is now removed. Keywords
