Compositional dependence of electrical and electro-optic characteristics of X/65/35 PLZT ceramics for X from 8.0 to 10.0

Abstract
Transparent slim-loop ferroelectric PLZT ceramic materials characterized by the quadratic electro-optic effect are being utilized in a variety of device applications. The PLZT composition must be carefully selected to match the particular use requirements for each application. This paper reports the compositional dependence of the electrical and electro-optic characteristics for X/65/35 PLZT materials, where X covers the range from 8.0 to 10.0 in steps of 0.2 atom % La. Correlation between the electrical and electro-optic characteristics is given. Temperature dependence is reported for some compositions.
