Abstract
Increasingly, nurse administrators are experiencing less of match between what they want in their careers and what contemporary health care organizations have to offer them, pursuing instead a variety of entrepreneurial ventures. The decision to strike out on one's own must consider current performance strengths and weaknesses, tolerance for uncertainty and potential opportunities for business development. Working with a mentor is one way to assure that the right questions about this important life decision have been asked and answered. Keywords
