Abstract

It has been established that arugosin C, C₂₅H₂₈O₆, an optically active metabolite of A. rugulosus, has the dibenz-[b,e]oxepin structure (IV) and is, therefore, closely related to arugosin A. This structure was established by mass spectrometry and by a comparison of the ¹H and ¹³C n.m.r. spectra with those of arugosin A.
