Abstract
In pigs a segment of ureter was resected obliquely, turned end for end, and re-anastamosis carried out without any splinting catheter. The opposite kidney and ureter served as control. It was found that 4 weeks after operation peristalsis traveled across the reverse segment in normal fashion; there was no evidence of hydro-nephrosis or hydroureter. Tracings of peristalsis were normal. It is suggested that propulsion of urine down the ureter is entirely a myogenic function rather than under nerve regulation. Keywords
