Isolation Of Two Arboviruses From Aedes Taeniorhynchus Wiedemann

Abstract
An epidemic of St. Louis encephalitis in the Tampa Bay area of Florida in the fall of 1962 (Chamberlein, et al., 1964; Dow et al., 1964) stimulated investigation of arbovirus activity in mosquitoes on MacDill Air Force Base. This large military installation is located on the Interbay Peninsula, an extension of Hillsborough County into Tampa Bay. The terrain on and near the base permits the periodic appearance of large broods of AEDES TAENIORHYNCHUS (Wied.).
