Abstract
The bacteriostatic activities of humulone, cohumulone, adhumulone and various derivatives of humulone against two Lactobacillus spp. and an Acetobacter sp. Were measured, using a simple haemocytometer technique. The α-acids themselves showed considerable activity against the Lactobacillus spp. tested (gram positive), but none was shown against the Acetobacter sp. (gram negative). Humulinone and its transformation products had no marked activity. Keywords
