Resistivity damage rate in austenitic Fe-Cr-Ni alloys during neutron irradiation at 23K

Abstract
Resistivity damage rates have been studied in high-purity austenitic Fe-Cr-Ni solid solutions during neutron irradiation at 23K up to doses of 2.7*1018 fast neutrons per cm2. The production curves have been interpreted in terms of the creation and recombination of Frenkel defects. The following values of the Frenkel pair resistivity rho F and of the effective recombination volume veff have been derived: Fe 64 wt.%-Cr 16 wt.%-Ni 20 wt.% alloy, rho F=13.9 mu Omega cm per%, veff=217 atomic volume; Fe 59 wt.%-Cr 16 wt.%-Ni 25 wt.% alloy, rho F=12.9 mu Omega cm per%, veff=229 atomic volume.Keywords
