Plasma Cortisol and Corticosterone in Peptic Ulcer

Abstract
IT has been apparent since ACTH and adrenal steroids first came into use in therapeutics that there is a relation between these agents and peptic ulcer. ACTH was early demonstrated to increase uropepsin excretion and gastric pepsi,.1 , 2 There also appear to be more cases of peptic ulceration among patients treated with ACTH and adrenal steroids,3 although it is not certain whether these hormones produce the ulcer or make a pre-existing ulcer symptomatic.
