Abstract
A mathematical analysis of shunt capacitor application for loss reduction in distribution feeder is presented. Generalized equations for calculating loss reduction in a feeder with representative loads are derived and the conditions for optimum loss reduction are developed. The results are presented in separate family of curves for convenient determination of loss reduction due to capacitors.Keywords
