Disseminated Nonreactive Tuberculosis with Basophilia, Leukemoid Reaction and Terminal Pancytopenia

Abstract
NONREACTIVE tuberculosis, of which less than 100 cases have been reported, has seldom been diagnosed during life.1 2 3 4 5 This report describes a patient with a leukemoid reaction associated with basophilia, terminating with pancytopenia, in whom the diagnosis of disseminated tuberculosis was made ante mortem by means of a liver biopsy.Case ReportA 74-year-old Negro was admitted to the hospital with a 4-month history of generalized weakness, anorexia, easy fatigability and an 18.t-kg. (40-pound) weight loss. Six weeks previously fever, watery diarrhea and generalized pruritus had developed.
