The Isotopic Abundance of Neon, Argon and Krypton

Abstract
Two research mass spectrometers combined with careful experimental techniques have been used to redetermine the iotopic abundances of atmospheric neon, argon and krypton. No instrumental correction factor was necessary to duplicate the known results for neon. The new isotopic abundance of argon is essentially identical to that previously obtained by Nier. On the other hand, some differences in the present and previous values were noted in the isotopic abundance of krypton. The new values for the nuclides of krypton are 78Kr=0.355±0.001, 83Kr=11.536±0.009 , 80Kr=2.256±0.007 , 84Kr = 56.982 ± 0.01 , 82Kr=11.553±0.009 , 86Kr=17.318±0.009 . The atomic weight calculated on the basis of these new values and 12C= 12.0000 is 83.8005 ± 0.001 amu.
