Abstract
Results from studies of foam sizing are presented. Foaming characteristics of several size materials including polyvinyl alcohol, carboxymethylcellulose, deriva tized starches, acrylic polymers, and polyesters are described. Influence of size for mulation viscosity and concentration on foamability of sizes is demonstrated. Tech niques for transport and application of foam sizes are presented. Properties of poly ester/cotton yarns sized using foam are equivalent or superior to those of similar yarns sized conventionally. Economics of application of size using foam are also considered. Keywords
