Abstract
The results of a combined search of UK Schmidt UV and B plate pairs and IIIa-J prism plates centred on two fields in the South Galactic Polar Region, 02h00m, – 50°00ʹ and 22h04m, – 18°55ʹ, for ultraviolet excess (uvx) objects and emission-line QSOs are presented. Seventy-seven uvx and 47 non-uvx QSOs were found in the 02h field and 101 uvx and 16 non-uvx QSOs were found in the 22h field. Finding charts are given for all the QSOs. Redshifts or tentative redshifts have been assigned to 147 of the objects of which 30 were found from low dispersion AAT spectra, the remainder from the objective prism plates. Magnitudes in b and u, from a combination of photoelectric and photographic photometry, are given for all the QSOs. A search for radio emission from all the QSOs resulted in detection of only 8 per cent as radio sources to a limit of 25 mJy at 5000 MHz.Keywords
