A modified version of this paper was published in Transcultural Nursing: A Futuristic Field of Health Care, edited by M. Carter, Memphis, Tennessee: The Trancultural Nursing Society, 1986, pp. 1-14. It is viewed as "classic" in the field to partially grasp the historical development of the field of transcultural nursing by the founder.
