Abstract
Colour-magnitude diagrams are presented for three concentrations of stars and for the field stars in the region of NGC 602. The limiting magnitude is about V = 20. The diagrams indicate that the three concentrations and the blue field stars form a single age group, and that very few if any of the yellow and red stars in the field are Cloud members. The stellar population of the wing is predominantly young; the maximum age of this association is probably about 10 7 years. The total mass of hydrogen in the region is estimated to 3 × 10 5 solar masses. The total mass of the Cloud stars in the region is about 2 × 10 4 solar masses. Keywords
