Abstract
This is a report of histological changes found in the temporal bones of a full-term infant whose mother was suffering from severe diabetes mellitus. Pronounced degenerative changes were found throughout the labyrinth, engorgement throughout the blood vessels, and haemorrhages. These findings are in agreement with two cases reported by Kelemen and give reason to assume that the vascular changes so commonly present in diabetics may also involve the blood vessels of the inner ear, resulting in permanent damage of the acoustic-vestibular apparatus. Keywords
