Abstract
The army cutworm, Chorizagrotis auxiliaris (Lepidoptera Noctuidae), is a frequent pest of mustard in southern Alberta, Canada, and adjoining areas of Montana in the United States. In the early stages of growth mustard is particularly susceptible to damage by cutworm larvae because of the small size of plants and their inability to withstand defoliation. Except in years when insect development is later than usual damage can be averted by delayed seeding of the crop.
