SOME CONDUCTION PROBLEMS IN THE HEATING OF SMALL AREAS ON LARGE SOLIDS

Abstract
This paper discusses a number of problems the common feature of which is the hoating by a constant flux of small areas, generally circular, on the surface of a semiinfinite solid or on an infinite thin sheet. In addition to a number of analytic results, the variation with time of the surface temperature of the centre of the heated area on a semi-solid has been computed for various sizes of area and degrees of cooling.
