Abstract
The UKCC feels strongly that the term ‘nurse practitioner’ should not be used. In paragraph 34 of the final draft report on PREP (UKCC, 1993) there is considerable criticism of the term (Tabic I). 1 totally support this view and the sentiments expressed because I feel that the use of the term could be divisive and detrimental to the development of nursing. However, this does not mean that I do not recognize the valuable contribution that such nurse practitioners have made in the past, or are likely to make in the future. Keywords
