Abstract
IF diseases of the colon and rectum nowadays enjoy respectability unmatched since the vogue for the nuciform sac, the reason undoubtedly is that etiology, diagnosis and treatment are beginning to be based on fact — or what seems to be fact.Low-Residue Diets Causing CancerLike diverticulosis, and possibly also appendicitis, colorectal carcinoma is more common in urbanized civilizations than in rural ones, and its frequency increases in ethnic groups who move from comparatively primitive communities to advanced ones. In the new environment carcinogenic factors may be only a diet low in roughage and high in sugar, the low-residue diet . . .Keywords
