Abstract
The flaccidity of an acutely deafferented forelimb is replaced, in the decerebrate cat, by strong extensor hypertonus upon low-frequency stimulation of the ipsilateral vermian part of the cerebellar anterior lobe, even if bilateral labyrinthectomy, deafferentation of the 1st 3 cervical segments, and denervation of the contralateral forelimb be performed acutely. The lowrate cerebellar stimulation acts because of its facilitating influence upon the tonus. The responses descr. are duplicated by high-rate stimuli applied to the facilitating reticular centers of the brain stem. Keywords
