Abstract
The rate of entrance of water into impaled cells of Halicystis Osterhoutii, Blinks and Blinks, has been determined directly by measurements of the rise of sap in a capillary for dilute sea waters (containing between 90 and 30 per cent sea water). The velocity constant remains reasonably constant down to 50 per cent sea water but it decreases markedly in lower concentrations.
