Abstract
The delayed depressor response which begins approximately 5 hours after the repeated subcutaneous administration of 2 I. U. of Pitressin to DCA-hypertensive rats can also be elicited with a single large dose of 4 I.U. Pitocin is without effect when given either as repeated daily injections or as a single large dose. Pituitrin, when given by repeated daily injections, shows a cumulative effect in that the base line blood pressure tends to be lowered, but no delayed depressor response is observed. Attention is thus drawn to the specificity of the delayed depressor response to Pitressin and to the absence of correlation with the antecedent pressor interval. Keywords
