Abstract
Recent electrocochleographic findings of Portmann and Aran point to a peripheral rather than a central lesion as the basis for hearing loss associated with Rh incompatibility. The observations are consistent with other audiometric signs of cochlear impairment but not with the speculation that cochlear nuclei lesions in the brain stem could account for all of the apparent cochlear signs. No evidence has yet been presented for an impairment in sensitivity associated with central nervous system lesions in the presence of a normal peripheral auditory mechanism. Keywords
