Abstract
The possible contribution of dietary electrolyte intake as a cause of or contributor to the development of hypertension has been intensively investigated for over 50 years. Evidence from various sources suggests a role for sodium-salt, chloride, calcium, and magnesium. In this article, we will review the evidence supporting a role for each of these electrolytes in human hypertension.Keywords
