Halogenated Diesters of Testosterone. Response to Electron Capture Detection, Gas Chromatographic and Mass Spectrometric Properties

Abstract
Halogenated diesters of testosterone have been prepared on milligram and microgram scale. Their molar electron absorbing activities are discussed in relation to some structural features. Testosterone 3 heptafluorobutyrate 17β pentadecafluorooctanoate and testosterone 3 heptafluorobutyrate 17β pentafluorobenzoate are derivatives suitable for estimation of testosterone in plasma. Their responses are the highest of all halogenated testosterone derivatives described up to date. Retention indices on stationary phases of different polarity have been determined. Low resolution mass spectra have been recorded and some fragmentation mechanisms are discussed.
