Abstract
It is interesting to recall I. L. Holmes’ comment from the Seminar on Seismic Problems in Structural Engineering 1968 - "reinforced masonry can be designed by the same rules as reinforced concrete". This is really the theme of this paper. What Holmes said in 1968, on scant evidence, has been shown in the testing which has been conducted since then to be completely correct. Keywords
