Abstract
The problem of consistent parameter estimation in adaptive regulation and adaptive control for multivariable, deterministic systems is addressed. The parameter estimation schemes considered are the RLS estimator, and the RLS estimator with covariance resetting. A decaying excitation technique, similar to that given by Chen and Guo (1987), is used to ensure consistent parameter estimation for the multivariable system without imposing any restrictions on the memory vector φ(k). Some restrictions on the system are relaxed. Keywords
