Abstract
Manganese(III) nitrate and its dinitrogen pentoxide "adduct" have been prepared by the reaction of N2O5 with MnF3. Infrared spectra and magnetic susceptibility measurements show these compounds to contain high-spin manganese(III) coordinated by nitrate groups and the "adduct" to be the nitronium salt, [NO2]+[Mn(NO3)4]−. The syntheses of complexes of Mn(NO3)3 with some organic ligands, e.g., 2,2′-bipyridyl, o-phenanthroline, acetonitrile, and triphenyl phosphine oxide are described. Keywords
