Abstract
The follicular poroma (FP) is a benign organiform hamartoma developing at the expense of the intra-epidermal portion of the hair follicle. This tumor, which appears in people in their sixties, consists of a small rounded, pinkish papule, dry or moist, occurring on the face and especially on the eyebrows or moustache area. It grows slowly and does not exceed a certain size. Histological examination reveals a tumor composed of epithelial proliferation comprising small dark cells containing no glycogen. Demarcation from the surrounding epidermis is quite distinct. The FP is a benign growth and limited resection seems to suffice. The authors believe that it is within the group of intradermal follicular acanthomas that this anatomo-clinical entity, the FP, deserves to be distinguished. Keywords
