Abstract
The presence of reagin-like antibodies in rabbits following infection with nematodes is recorded. These antibodies were heat-labile, and were demonstrable by homologous passive cutaneous anaphylaxis at titers up to 128. The allergens responsible for these antibodies were common to all 4 nematode species concerned, namely Toxocara canis, T. cati, T. leonina and Ascaris, and had a MW [molecular weight] between 10,000-50,000. This phenomenon in rabbits offers a useful approach for investigation of the Type I allergic reaction in terms of helminthic immunity and serodiagnosis. Keywords
