Abstract
Longitudinal excitation discontinuities (kinks) that arise from partial-sample switching in increasing absorption bistability are predicted theoretically and observed in a sharp-cut color filter. The kinks give rise to a sawtooth output temporal dependence for a triangular input shape. Kinks are an emphatic illustration of the local nature of increasing absorption bistability. Keywords
