Abstract
Nine samples originating from 2 peat profiles were subjected to pollen analysis. Thin sections were obtained and examined microscopically for the purpose of general characterization of the peat. Pollen analysis made it possible to evaluate the collection of macroresidues useful for the interpretation of the morphologic characteristics of the peat. Species common to the 2 profiles included Larix sp., Pinus divaricata, P. strobus, Acer saccharum, Quercus sp., Tsuga sp., Fagus sp., Ulmus sp., Fraxinus sp., Betula sp., Alnus rugosa, Ericaceae, Cyperaceae, Gramineae, Sphagnum sp. and ferns. The 2 profiles differed in the depths and quantitative compositions of the species and families. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
