Abstract
The energy and enthalpy of a spin-half Fermi liquid, with the interparticle interaction given by the Lennard-Jones potential, is calculated using hypernetted chain (HNC) and the statistical cluster expansion (truncated at the three-body term). The behavior of the systems in response to external fields which produce large polarization is described. An estimate is made of the change in the melting curve brought about by an external magnetic field. The numerical results have a number of desirable qualitative features—certain quantitative aspects of the calculations are not satisfactory.
