AN END-RESULT STUDY OF THE KELLER OPERATION

Abstract
1. Arthroplasty of the metatarsophalangeal joint of the great toe by the Keller procedure gave good or excellent results in 93 per cent. of 193 operations in this series. 2. Only five of the 113 patients were dissatisfied, or had complete operative failures. 3. The chief complication has been delayed wound healing, caused by early removal of sutures and by weight-bearing before the fourteenth day after operation. 4. A long period of convalescence is required after this procedure.
