Abstract
Patterns of physical restraint use were measured according to time of day, location on the unit, and persons in the environment on three units of one long-term care facility. An in-depth examination clarifies aspects of temporal, environmental and social conditions under which restraint use typically occurs in cognitively impaired and agitated nursing home residents. Keywords
