Abstract
The existence of two "core" peptides in human hemoglobin A was established. The core peptide with valine as the N-terminal group was isolated from the [beta]-chain, leucine was found to be the N-terminal amino acid of the [alpha]-chain. It is probable that the heme in native hemoglobin is localized in the core peptides. The methods used in establishing these relations are stated briefly. Keywords
