Abstract
Stark splittings of 5snd 1D2 Sr Rydberg states were measured between n=11 and 20 by quantum beat spectroscopy at very low electric field strengths, allowing the determination of tensor polarisabilities. The irregular behaviour of these polarisabilities was confirmed by Coulomb approximation calculations and explained by a simple quantum defect analysis. Keywords
