Abstract
A new ternary phase in the Ba-Y-Cu-O system is reported. It has a tetragonal structure with a space group of D4h l. The chemical composition is typically expressed as Ba8YCu4O16-d , and the lattice constants are a = 0.8138 and c = 0.8096 nm (c/a = 0.994). The phase was suggested to have a limited composition region of stoichiometry because the lattice spacing changes with the composition of the specimen. Keywords
