Abstract
A simple and generally applicable model of the anisotropic superexchange interaction, based on the factorization of its orbital matrix element is described and developed. Particular stress is laid on the fact that the one-electron matrix elements produced by the factorization are relatively simple to compute and to derive from experiment. Keywords
